and into May
Each Sunday through May 20th, Suzanne is having people speak about how Wesley Church has impacted their life. It is important for us to hear each other's stories as we prepare to move on. If you are interested in doing this, please let her know. It will mean speaking for about three to eight minutes during a Sunday morning worship. It is not intended to be the sermon, so don't be nervous. It's about sharing from your heart. Julian Johnson, Deb Black, Mike Chatt, Linda Warner and the Lindners have shared their experiences. We hope to hear from you!!!
As we travel down the road....
Historic Transition Celebration: Sunday, May 20th Photos!
Celebration Sunday, May 20, 2007 was a fun day, with good food, great music, nice speeches and lets say descent weather (at least it wasn't 90 degrees and humid). There was the 10:30 AM worship service which included our incredibly talented Wesley Choir under the direction of Dr. Bruce Gleason and our incredibly talented organist/pianist, Rick Stanton.
After worship there was a catered meal, provided by local favorite, Pizza Luce.
The 2 PM Community Celebration featured past clergy, various speakers sharing stories of Wesley's journey - past and present, and the hope for the future as Wesley becomes a Recovery Church together with Central Park UMC. Rev. Bruce Robbins spoke, representing the National Reconciling Ministry Network. The Wesley Choir and many folks who used to sing with the choir also entertained. The Jackson Street Band from Central Park UMC shared their music with us as well... Also, Praise Dancers from Fellowship Missionary Baptist helped lead us in worship.
Following the celebration there was a reception served by our friends at Minnehaha UMC and music from the Jumpin' Jehosafats.
To view photos from the celebration just look below (it may take a minute to load them).
